ANIMAL STORIES
Felix & Zia
Zia and Felix are orphaned siblings found in the Santa Monica Mountains near Simi Valley. California Fish and Game determined their mother had fallen victim to rodenticide poisoning. An attempt was made to integrate them into another mountain lion family, but the resident mother wasn’t able to take on two more cubs.
Now grown, Felix and Zia have settled into life at Southwest Wildlife. They were once housed with two younger mountain lions and spent their early days roughhousing and curling up together.
Raising mountain lions is a significant undertaking, and we now care for seven of them at the Sanctuary. Thanks to your support, Felix and Zia continue to thrive in their lifelong home.
Southwest Wildlife Conservation Center is a non-profit wildlife sanctuary that rescues and rehabilitates injured, displaced, and orphaned wildlife. Once healthy, they are released back into the wild. We offer sanctuary to animals that cannot be released due to their injuries or other circumstances. In addition to rescuing and rehabilitating wildlife, SWCC offers a variety of educational programs for area schools and organizations as well as tours for individuals or groups through our sanctuary. Southwest Wildlife relies on donations and grants and these contributions are essential to our continuing work with the care and rehabilitation of Arizona’s wildlife.
